The Truth About Ceramic Coatings: What Do They Do? What Are They?

Our ceramic coating for vehicles is the answer for enthusiasts who want to maintain their vehicle’s showroom shine with minimal effort. The revolutionary, high-gloss finish of our ceramic coating is tougher than traditional wax, so it will protect your car from daily conditions like tar, dirt and bugs that can lead to unsightly stains. It also drastically increases your car’s gloss and water beading so it looks as clean as a new car even after hours of driving on roads covered in mud or rain.

Automotive ceramic coatings offer an extreme level of protection that goes beyond the conventional waxes, sealants, and polymer products available. They seal tiny pores in the paint which prevents contaminants from entering, while also forming a hard barrier against scratches, swirls and oxidation.

So what are ceramic coatings? What are their benefits? What are their limitations? What will be best for your vehicle?

What is a Ceramic Coating?

A Ceramic Coating such as Ceramic Pro, is a liquid polymer that is applied by hand to the exterior of a vehicle. The coating chemically bonds with the vehicle’s factory paint, creating a layer of protection. This polymer provides a permanent or semi-permanent bond with a vehicle’s paint and does not wash away or break down. A Ceramic Coating, unlike traditional waxes and sealants, provides long-lasting protection for your car. Ceramic coatings compared to Paint Protection Film, is less expensive and offers similar benefits to sealing your car’s paint.

What Do Ceramic Coatings Do?

A Ceramic Coating adds additional protection to your car’s exterior, helping keep it looking like-new with comparatively minimal maintenance. The coating achieves this result by making your vehicle more resilient and easier to clean. Plus, it’s easier to maintain a sparkling shine that can protect against everyday wear and tear and save you money on future repairs.

UV Protection / Oxidation

Ceramic Coating protects a vehicle’s paint from the sun’s ultraviolet rays, resulting in reduced oxidation. Protecting your vehicles' finish is easy with Ceramic Coating. Our paint-saving formulation can be applied to cars, trucks, motor homes and more!

Chemical Stain Protection

A ceramic coating will protect your vehicle from natural contaminants by creating a chemically resistant surface. This protects your paint from staining and etching caused by acidic contaminants such as bird droppings and sap, acid rain, and pollution.

Cleaning Ease

Ceramic coatings are hydrophobic, which means water will bead and slide off the surface of the coating. This can result in less effort when washing your vehicle, as mud and grime will be less likely to stick to the surface. . This means that contaminants will be less likely to stick to your car's surface, allowing them to wash off more easily with normal car washing or pressure washer use.

Extreme Gloss

If you want your paint to pop with gloss, you will want to add a Ceramic Coating. A good Ceramic Coating enhances the reflective properties of your car’s paint and clear coat, adding to the depth and clarity of your paint. It can be used as an alternative to waxing and provides protection from oxidation and fading from UV rays. A Ceramic Coating will add value to your vehicle. What Does Ceramic Coating NOT Do?

Ceramic Coating is a paint protection coating that is applied to the exterior of your vehicle. It is designed to penetrate deep into the pores of the paint, and by filling in these pores it will both protect your exterior from premature aging and reduce ongoing maintenance needs. However, despite the claims of some manufacturers and detailers, a Ceramic Coating is not a miracle, super-cure product that will solve any and every problem for your car. Thus, it is important for you to know what a Ceramic Coating does not do.

Eliminate Rock Chips & Scratches

Though some small scratches can be repelled by a Ceramic Coating (as we described above), a coated vehicle will not be completely resistant to the risk of rock chips or parking lot scratches. Furthermore, improper car washing techniques or automated car washes will still create swirl marks on your vehicle’s surface. Ceramic coatings are also not a replacement for Paint Protection Films, that can be used for serious scratch protection and chips.

Eliminate the Need To Wash

Ceramic Coating keeps your car looking like-new with comparatively minimal maintenance, not no maintenance. Let’s face it, the road is a dirty place. If you are driving your car, it will get dirty? Even with a Ceramic Coating, you will still need to wash your car regularly in order to maintain its look. The benefit of a Ceramic Coating is that the cleaning process will be easier.

Maximizing You Ceramic Coating & What Does This Mean

With all of the different products available on today’s market, it is important to be educated about a product before making a decision about whether it is right for your vehicle. Will Ceramic Coatings benefit your vehicle and add value? Certainly! Are Ceramic Coatings a miracle, one-stop-shop solution for all of your vehicle’s exterior problems? Certainly not!

Ceramic coatings protect your vehicle’s paintwork by forming an extremely hard, slick and glossy protective layer. This tough shield is so durable that it provides long lasting protection against scratches, abrasion, corrosion, water spotting and staining from brake dust and dirt. You can combine a Ceramic Coating with a Clear Bra for even greater protection. The coating will soak into the microscopic pores of the clear bra film before curing, leaving no residue or stuck-on grit behind when removed.
